Summertime Bliss!

Ello!

Summertime in NEW ORLEANS feels soo good! It feels soo good to be back in my hometown and to actually take the time, stop and enjoy life. Usually I'm always on a run, filling up my week with social plans, shopping like it's a job, djing 4 times a month and getting 7 hours o sleep(which isn't enough for me). I've been back home for about 3 weeks and I can honestly say I've been chilling.By chilling i mean riding my bike around the city nonstop(its my new hobby, i ABSOLUTELY love bike riding!), getting snowballs-not once but twice a day, catching up with old friends, declining party invites and dj gigs, sleeping with my windows open, looking for road trips to the beach, video chatting/emailing close friends in a different country, and basically unwinding from school.

I had 2 intense quarters at school and i loved it! I fell in love with Sculpture and even thinking about seriously changing from Fashion Marketing to Graphic Design. My new school has taught me to always give any and all of my artwork everything I have, and teaching myself to finish pieces even if i dont love them. One of my summer goals is to get more of my artwork out there, do more work on my own time and not on school time. I want to paint on junk i find randomly in the street, explore more with my experimental, mixed media type work.I'm pretty excited and can't wait to start painting again. Oh yea, I used to hate painting for the last 4 years, but I also fell in love with that. SCAD is helping me find myself artistically and that's one of the main reasons why I wanted to go there. I have a few ideas on what I want to create and make next and I'm all about painting on old furniture right now!

So what has been my summer wardrobe soo far or what have I been really feeling? I have finally got over my fear of red. Well i wouldn't call it a fear but i would always get frustrated when I put it on because it didn't exactly put me in the happiest mood. I also found it very hard to make a red ensemble look put together with accessories and make it not look like a bad prom outfit. I bought red lipstick in January and kept saying to myself everyday, " Today is the day I wear it." but then i wouldback out . Then five months later, my first day I got back in NOLA, I said," today is the day, whether I like it or not. I need to face it." I put it on and seriously I didn't not put it down for two weeks. It pulls any oufit together that feels blah, makes my teeth and eyes look wider, brightens my face and emphasizes my cheek bones. RED LIPSTICK DOES WONDERS! After that, I've been buying more red accessories, dress, shirts, etc. I can't see my life without red. I even started painting more with red. I officially don't hate it any more on me. It makes me instantly feel happy and energized now! It may be one of my favorites!

Other than red lipstick, I've really been into mid driffs, more along the lines of frilly feminine midriffs and wearing them with high waist jeans, showing a peek of skin at times...I've been releasing my inner Amber Rose(Kanye's beautiful girlfriend) mixed with 1950s Havana nights! Midriffs, full skirts, high waist jeans, scarves tied Cinderella/Tupac style, bright lip, and big hair.I think Amber Rose really started the red lipstick thing for me, and then after I did it, i felt like i could overcome anything bold taking. She is a fly chick that dominates the world without saying a word.

Since summer has started, I've been in love with white dresses-boho,wraps,preppy,etc. I love them all. I've really been feeling more frilly bohemian white dress and a red lip to top it off.I'm also big on denim, especially denim vests and dresses. They are soo nautical and 80s at the same time! I really adore high waist full mini skirts. They are soo flattering, so playful and so 50s havana. i love it!
