ATLANTA!

I'm flying out to Atlanta tomorrow to visit with my mom. The main reason for this trip is to tour the school and check out the city a bit. I'm sure this will involve some shopping, coffee, no sleep and just roaming this city..at least for me. I'm pretty excited. I still haven't packed yet, but I'll only be there for 3 days. I have a 6 am flight tommorow. BUMMER! Maybe i can get the rest of my Christmas shopping done also?

BOOTS!

I'm glad I'm finally serious about buying my harness boots, especially before I take off in January. Of course I have doubts about these boots being comfortable and able to walk in for hours at a time, but has my doubts ever stopped me from buying something? NO!....so it's time to take a chance with these. Here are a couple I found on Ebay. I cant decided which ones has my heart just yet. and for the first time ever, I cant decide between brown and black. I usually go for black but I think brown is close on this one.

Redefining

Bonjour!

So this week has put me in a new exciting mood to take care of my #1 love in my life, MY WARDROBE. Ever since yesterday, I've put down my charcoal and paper and started driving around the city looking for the cleaners, alteration places, shoe repair shops, and cleaning up my closet a bit. I'm preparing for my move to Atlanta by basically taking care of my clothes before I go. I've even started to set up my new sewing machine that I got about 4 months ago. I bought new sewing supplies, new fabric, and even picked out some stuff I've been needing to alter for the longest.

Today I picked up my dry cleaning today. I decided to try a new place. They only charged $1.98 per garment and it was ready the next day. THATS AMAZING! I've been wasting my money and time at this other overpriced, lazy place somewhere else in Algiers. The $1.98 place will definitely see me again. I sent them my newest vintage items I just bought that needed serious cleaning. I gave them this emerald green velvet dress that has a mesh back and two crisscross diamond straps in the back in the style of 90s. Its formfitting up top and flares at the waist on down. I also gave them a high waisted leopard print lightly pleated skirt that I'm completely obsessed with right now. I also finally gave them this dress I received for my birthday from my friend's closet. It was a gorgeous baby blue dress with a lace top that covers my shoulders and boobs. It can be alternated between either on the shoulders or off. Once again, it's formfitting up top and flares from the waist but also has light pleats on the bottom. Its adorable and they have completely turned it around because that dress was in such bad dirty shape. I feel great about it and i cant wait to wear it.

I also brought in one of first high end dresses I ever bought about 4 years ago by H.Starlet. Its an indie designer that had a spring collection of seersucker everything and I bought all the pieces. This dress is a dress that I'm in love with, that I wore anytime I couldn't find anything else to wear, and when I didnt feel pretty in anything else. It has a heart neckline with medium straps, red and white seersucker print, formfitting throughout the body almost with a built in corset, pleated around the hips and frayed on the edges. Its also reversible to a cute pale yellow striped side. ADORED! The zipper broke on it about 3 months ago. I was devastated. I finally bought it to the alteration place to replace the zipper. Only $15, kind of overpriced but i'll be sooo happy to be able to wear my favorite dress again.

I also started cleaning my room up a bit yesterday. I plan on selling some clothes to Buffalo Exchange Friday to free up some space and donate some clothes to Goodwill to clear out some of my drawers. I need to create some space for my new life and for my suitcases.

Tonight I am using my sewing machine in full force. I'm going to make this wideleg onesie tighter up top, hem and make the top more formfitting on this floral 50s stepford wife dress i also bought last week, make my high waisted shorts that stretch out when I dance a little bit tighter and flattering, quite possibly sew the strap on one of my favorite brown purse with a weaving design on it. I'm soo ready to alter all my too big vintage clothes that i love. This is soo rejuvenating and it makes me smile that i'm finally get to my alterations that i've been putting off for soo long.

I'll try to take pics of my newly cleaned items and newly altered clothes.

Have a good one!

My Christmas wishlist!

Hey!
I'm having trouble deciding on my top things that I want for Christmas. So far there are only 6 things that I truly want right now. I'm sure I'll think of some more soon....at least by tommorow.

Nothing truly puts me more in the Christmas mood than The Sims! I'm having serious withdrawals. I haven't played in almost 2 years. This game is soo addictive. My sister and I always played this game throughout the holidays and ended up playing for about 7-8 hours straight. It's soo much fun and we kept up with all the expansion packs. I've been meaning to get it for my MAC for the longest and I think now is the time. If it was available today at Wal-mart when I went for sewing supplies, I would've bought it. I guess its not meant to be, just yet.

I love this necklace. I'm obsessed.

I've been eyeing these beauties for the past week. I cant decide if I truly want to buy them and what color to get. I love leggings and I love stir ups.. I should get them. By the looks of my completely full cart, vanishing and selling out by the hour, I should get them soon. Navy or Grey?

I've been on a lifelong journey searching for my signature scent. I found a sample of Vera Wang's Princess in Teen Vogue today and decided to truly decide if it "smelled" like me. I rubbed it on my wrist, waited 10 min to see if it killed or soothed my nose. It was soo heavenly. It's so light, so feminine, and so flirty. I think this one will be the closest to my signature scent for now.

Anybody that knows me, knows that I absolutely ADORE boots, especially boots with some hint of grunge. I've been dying for harness boots since earlier this year, maybe earlier than that. I've mentioned it tons of times in my earlier posts. I have a fear that these motorcycle boots would be too heavy to walk in and too hard to be comfy. But I need them. At least before I go to Atlanta.

I would love to find these shoes in a patent red or black...I've seen them but I have no idea what to call them or where to find them...I would love them on my sized 11 feet!

YO!

WOW! I can't believe its been over a month, almost two that I haven't written on here. Everyday I think I need to write a new post i need to write a new post, but it never ends up happening. I had a really great Thanksgiving or since the last time, an amazing halloween! for Thanksgiving, I helped my mom out a little bit with cooking, stayed at home with the fam and hung out with some other relatives. it was nice to stay in and hang out with them. I ate tons of food but I did it in small portions throughout the day. It would be a waste to ruin my eating and dieting habits. I need to make it to the gym soon also. I've been too busy.

Yesterday was my last day of work at American Apparel. I was oh so sad. I thought i would be happy to leave but I was close to crying. I'll miss those kids, my 50% discount, and fun customers. I'm glad I got closer to the new kids and got a chance to work there. It was fun! I decided to quit a month before leaving for Atlanta because I wanted to enjoy my times in NOLA. I want to eat tons of po-boys, hang out with as much people as possible, do cartweels around the city, throw some more dance parties, dj a few more gigs, drink and sleep for however long I want.... Basically just have fun before I leave.

Tonight is my friend's 24th birthday house party. It should be crazy fun involving Sangria and Tequila. I dont know what to wear?!

Ebay...long time no shop.

Lately Ebay, these days, is ridiculous. I find great stuff and I literally get outbidded by 10 cents in the last 5 seconds. Now that's just not fair, now is it?! I gave up on Ebay after my last 3 encounters for the past month in a half. I realized Ebay was getting too trendy and everybody was catching on. The sellers started upping their prices and amateur bidders bid early so the price is higher in the end. It sucks.
Last night, I subconsciously went on Ebay(after about 6 week getaway). I found soo many great boots for my sized 11 cro-magnon foot...and also two great vintage dresses! What is so great also is that they are priced super low and nobody has yet to bid on them. Let me not get ahead of myself. I'm usually successful at getting shoes on Ebay: 1. because nobody wears a size 11 and 2. I know certain keywords to type in to find my favorites. I do some hard searching to find perfect items I most likely won't be able to find in New Orleans. One boot ended last night with no bids, but now it is relisted. I'm gaining some sort of hope back. They are pretty plain but i can see them turning some of my outfits out, being the final piece to making my outfit look amazing. Here are some things I watching right now on Ebay.

I love the texture of these boots. the owner says they are quite flaky on the inside. I duno if i could deal with that. i already bought a pair of boots from ebay that is flaky and kind of sticky inside. TRUE VINTAGE!

I love these boots...simple, navy, able to fold down.

These are the boots in which I could see turning any of my outfits out. I love creme colored boots!

Oh yes! Finally a pair of cute combat boots mixed with a great gatsby fringe. the best of all? In my size and high top!
These red ones are my number ones for now. I must have them! i need them in my life.

So I have a love/hate relationship with this dress. I love the florals and ruffled sleeves and material looks nice. But i dont know if it will be flattering on me or possibly to matronly for my taste? I feel like i can make it modern somehow. but how?

I love the neckline of this dress..the dress is a mix of nautical and 80s.

My Top 10 necessities for the fall

Hey..long time no write. I've been real busy- working crazy hours, trying to get back into doing charcoal drawings and sewing new threads, handling school stuff, and drinking mimosas. I must say I am super excited for the fall. Maybe a little more than usual. New Orleans never really get a fall season. It goes from 99 degrees one day and the next day it drops 30 degrees. This past week its been feeling real fall like and less humid. I think we may actually have a fall this time around!

I wanted to do a list of my Top 10 necessities for the fall. These are the things I have, I must get, or will continue buying more of throughout the season. Lately, I've been really into the 70s, ever since I put down my flat iron in April and have been wearing a curly afro since. I've always loved the 70s but I never really acted out on it. I've always admired everyone outfits in Dazed and Confused and secretly wished I could be apart of that movie. I always preferred 80s inspired clothes and colors compared to the 70s since I was about 13. The 70s are rapidly taking over my wardrobe this season!

I've also become deeply interested in 1940s Glam Hollywood. I want plum lipstick, finger waved hair, slinky low cut dresses, and dark nail polish.

Here are my top 10-old favorites and new favorites, in no particular order.

1. Hair Accessories(oversized and subtle). This includes huge bows, barrettes, flapper inspired headbands and clips, bandannas or colorful scarfs tied like a classic housemaid.
2. Fringe( I personally will sew myself a fringed long brown buttonless vest soon)
3. Ruffles( the more layers the better) Let's over-exaggerate it!
4.Zippers( I love zippers in unexpected places for example exposed zippers, zipper pockets, belts and shoes with zippers)
5.High Waist Super Wide Leg Jeans(dark or light wash- I need two pairs and I have yet to find my perfect pair)
6.Oversized scarves or multiple scarves
7.Open toe boots/platform ankle boots/ Gem- colored platform heels
8.Opaque and sheer tights in deeply saturated colors( black, grey, dark greens and purples)
9.PLAID, PLAID AND more PLAID!- Yes -Buffalo,gingham, unstructured, multicolored, monochromatic.
10.One-sies(floral, solid, long, ruffled, pastel colors, plaid)
11. Mini Dresse( ok sorry one more.) I can never live without these. I love them especially 90s styled! I'll throw some tights, boots and a jacket in for the fall.

Karl Lagerfield

Hey!

I evacuated last friday to Plano, TX for Hurricane Gustav. I must say it's not too bad and it's way better than Sugarland,TX(where I was during Katrina). It's also 15 minutes away from Dallas. I went to the Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Ann Taylor Loft,Dillards and AA out here. I found some good stuff. I definitely bought all the shit we dont carry in the NO-1 store. I'll take pictures of my purchases when I get back to NOLA. I don't have my USB cable here with me.

My mom took me on a shopping spree Saturday for my 20th birthday. It was quite exciting and relaxing. I had a really good birthday, considering I had to be in Texas during it. She bought me a new phone and made me cupcakes before the gruesome 9 hour drive. When we got to Plano, I took a 6 hour nap and woke up just in time to make it to lunch. When I woke up, my mom told me we should go to Zea's and go shopping. I'll treat you. That's what I love to hear! I had to take her on that offer.I also received a birthday blackberry cobbler with ice cream on top from Zea's! It was soo delicious! After that, we went shopping for the rest of the day. I was able to get whatever I wanted to. BEAUTIFUL! We also continued shopping for the next 3 days days. I am truly tired and think I should stop while I'm still ahead. You know your shopping has gotten ridiculous when you go to F21 two days in a row.

So today, I decided to take a lunch break from all the ridiculous impulse shopping that was taking place today at American Apparel and Urban Outfitters. I went to this place called, "Cafe Express." It's basically a restaurant with healthy american food including grilled chicken sandwiches, unique blended ice teas and great music. Kudos to them for having free wireless( I've been looking everywhere in Texas!)... While waiting to order my food, I took a break from texting to check out my surroundings. Who is eyeing me from a table 3 feet away? A Karl Lagerfield lookalike! Yes an older tan man with chic black huge sunglasses and white hair. I did a double look! Boyfriend potential? Yes! A fashionable man would do! I should have taken a picture. Dallas is actually quite fashionable. Did I mention I made friends with all the boys in Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and AA?

Impulve buys in the last two days.

Why is it that working for AA puts me more in a compulsive mood than shopping does on a regular day? There is something about working there, being around clothes all day, and seeing other employees buy shit that makes me buy things I've been eyeing. This is not good! I need to control my spending habits a little bit better, especially if I plan on happy shopping on my trip to L.A. and Chicago. I also tryed on the football cropped tee that i wanted in my last blog and let's just say I don't need it. Its not flattering or cute on. I did order the ruffled sheer jersey white shirt and got the black oversized cardigan today. The mocassin purchase is coming up. Hopefully i can get them before it gets cold. I'm also getting the zebra print swimsuit for my upcoming birthday next week. I cannot wait to wear it!

Here's some stuff at work I bought today and yesterday.

Some things I want to buy this week!

First time ever! 2 blogs in one day! I'm on the roll. I guess I have a lot to talk about...My winter work wardrobe,I'm thinking I would be into more cardigans, bodysuits, colored frames, backseam tights, fringe boots, and more red. I'm definitely getting another pair of backseam tights in navy from AA. I'll be going to L.A.( for the 1st time!) and Chicago next month! I'm pretty excited to do some shopping and see the boys in L.A. I also haven't seen my sister since May, so thats the only reason i'll be in the Chi. More importantly i paid for my plane ticket myself. It makes me proud that I didn't spend it on materialistic things, but instead on an experience. Here are some things I'm craving right now!

I would get this is black, wear it with full skirts, and high waist jeans.

Some things I bought in this week!

Payday puts me in an amazing mood, especially since buying tickets for L.A. and Chicago on my own. It feels good. It also feels good when you're in love with some Levi shorts that you magically receive an additional 50% off the sale price. Here are some things i bought this week. I couldnt find the underwear and exact shorts i bought online..but these are pretty close! I broke my heart bamboo earrings yesterday and i needed another pair. I went to the local hair store and got the heart and regular bamboo. I was so tempted to get the doorknockers!

I bought a pair similar to these with satin piping along the bottom and seams. they are so much tighter and has a higher waist.

Yea I had to get another pair.

I wore the yellow/baby blue one 3 days in a row. I love it! and i had to get another.I chose the grass/orchid color scheme instead of the red/pink. I'm starting to rethink it.

Fashionable man

Let's keep this fashionable men trend thing up and keep myself from forgetting that this is a male and female friendly blog. Time to cater boys for a while to make up for how many blogs about the girls i made! I wanted to make another fashionable man blog post today. Yesterday was Jaimie Burke. Today let's go for Kanye West. Yes we all know he is great, so fashionable, so cocky, and so talented. I needed to feature him because he does dress amazingly and you will never catch him looking like he just rolled out of bed. He is the accessory king! I'm glad he shows boys that it is ok to accessorize. Accessories can pull an outfit together. He is the only person (in my opinion) that can do it(for now). Lots of men look up to him. He applauds talented hip hop artists, loves fashionable girls, into politics, loves London, sets trends, and is from the north( ok Chicago is midwest). He is my dream boyfriend. Sigh! We love Li' Kanye!

Something for the menz...

Last night while I was thinking about everything wrong with life, I started to think of my favorite fashionable men. Obvious choice, Shia Labeuof, which is fine but let's take the focus off of him for now. There is Terrence Howard, Pharell, Cool Kids, and then Jaimie Burke. Yes Jaimie! He is lead singer of Bloody Social. He was discovered while performing and ended up landing a job with Calvin Klein as their lead model for the Fall 2007 ads. He has an angelic face, tattoos, piercings, long hair, and beautiful dark eyes.. Just my type of guy! His style is a mix of indie rocker and hippie.

Ok ENOUGH! He is just too hot for words. Please be my boyfriend?

P.S. We need more fashionable cute young boys in this world!

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor is my new girlfriend. What do I have to do to be like her? I mean seriously! I've always been envious of girls who can pull off the tomboy look. Teyana does it amazingly with hints of femininity. As she says, " I'm so New York, I'm so damn Harlem." She's so young, so cute, and her personality is bigger than life. Though I do hate that I first saw her on My Sweet 16. Instead of asking for a new Corvette, she asked for a gold plated bike.YES! She is also the young protege' of Pharell. It also doesn't help that her song," Traffic Stop" is so deliciously addictive. She has my dream afro and she's 17. She makes me want to move to Harlem tommorow. Loves it! Check her out.

I will be ordering my sewing machine tommorow and buying fabrics! Have a Goodnight!
