Redefining

Bonjour!

So this week has put me in a new exciting mood to take care of my #1 love in my life, MY WARDROBE. Ever since yesterday, I've put down my charcoal and paper and started driving around the city looking for the cleaners, alteration places, shoe repair shops, and cleaning up my closet a bit. I'm preparing for my move to Atlanta by basically taking care of my clothes before I go. I've even started to set up my new sewing machine that I got about 4 months ago. I bought new sewing supplies, new fabric, and even picked out some stuff I've been needing to alter for the longest.

Today I picked up my dry cleaning today. I decided to try a new place. They only charged $1.98 per garment and it was ready the next day. THATS AMAZING! I've been wasting my money and time at this other overpriced, lazy place somewhere else in Algiers. The $1.98 place will definitely see me again. I sent them my newest vintage items I just bought that needed serious cleaning. I gave them this emerald green velvet dress that has a mesh back and two crisscross diamond straps in the back in the style of 90s. Its formfitting up top and flares at the waist on down. I also gave them a high waisted leopard print lightly pleated skirt that I'm completely obsessed with right now. I also finally gave them this dress I received for my birthday from my friend's closet. It was a gorgeous baby blue dress with a lace top that covers my shoulders and boobs. It can be alternated between either on the shoulders or off. Once again, it's formfitting up top and flares from the waist but also has light pleats on the bottom. Its adorable and they have completely turned it around because that dress was in such bad dirty shape. I feel great about it and i cant wait to wear it.

I also brought in one of first high end dresses I ever bought about 4 years ago by H.Starlet. Its an indie designer that had a spring collection of seersucker everything and I bought all the pieces. This dress is a dress that I'm in love with, that I wore anytime I couldn't find anything else to wear, and when I didnt feel pretty in anything else. It has a heart neckline with medium straps, red and white seersucker print, formfitting throughout the body almost with a built in corset, pleated around the hips and frayed on the edges. Its also reversible to a cute pale yellow striped side. ADORED! The zipper broke on it about 3 months ago. I was devastated. I finally bought it to the alteration place to replace the zipper. Only $15, kind of overpriced but i'll be sooo happy to be able to wear my favorite dress again.

I also started cleaning my room up a bit yesterday. I plan on selling some clothes to Buffalo Exchange Friday to free up some space and donate some clothes to Goodwill to clear out some of my drawers. I need to create some space for my new life and for my suitcases.

Tonight I am using my sewing machine in full force. I'm going to make this wideleg onesie tighter up top, hem and make the top more formfitting on this floral 50s stepford wife dress i also bought last week, make my high waisted shorts that stretch out when I dance a little bit tighter and flattering, quite possibly sew the strap on one of my favorite brown purse with a weaving design on it. I'm soo ready to alter all my too big vintage clothes that i love. This is soo rejuvenating and it makes me smile that i'm finally get to my alterations that i've been putting off for soo long.

I'll try to take pics of my newly cleaned items and newly altered clothes.

Have a good one!
