White Short, Red short

Finally I am able to post! I was having some photo uploading difficulties but I figured it out. I bought these BDG High Waisted white shorts from Urban Outfitters and was extremely ecstatic to finally have a pair of white shorts, especially high waisted pair. I love anything high waisted really. I kept trying to wear them with my outfits and it just never worked out. I realized after three weeks of buying them, that I actually hated how white shorts/ jeans looked on my bottom half. I always felt self conscious whenever I would put the shorts on. I wanted to return them but I realized I threw away my receipt for them(great right?)so I had to keep them in my closet. After that, I decided that it's time to get creative and find a way to wear them shorts, find a way for me to love them again. It was time to DYE them! It was super easy and I'm so much happier with the shorts now that added some color to them. I'll give you a step by step guide on how to dye anything of yours that white, cream or a light color. It usually works on denim or cotton.
BEFORE DYEING
Took this picture to show you guys the before photo of my shorts that I love/hated.

Step 1: Go to a supermarket(Target, Walmart, Kroger), go to the crafts aisle and look for a fabric dye. There were so many colors that I was unable to contain my excitement! There was turquoise, lavender, red, light blue, fucshia, and even bright yellow!(Seriously it cost $2.00 for one pack)

Step 2. Fill a stainless steel sink or bowl up with extremely hot water.(The hotter the water, the deeper the color, and the less it fades when you wash it). Pour the whole power packet of dye into the hot water and mix until dissolved. (You might want to wear gloves, because my hands were stained after. The label should have these type of warnings.)

Step 3. Put your shorts or jeans into the water and stir constantly for 20 minutes straight. (Yes I know this may hurt your arm for a while but I promise it will be worth it! )

Step 4. After 20 minutes has passed, you can occasionally stir it for another 20 minutes.

Step 5. Next you would want to rinse the shorts off with cold water. I did it until the water was mostly clear. Gently ring out the shorts to get rid of excess water.

Step 6. Let it air dry. This took about two days to fully dry. That's it! Simple! Here is the end result!

Red Shorts AFTER DYING!
It dried just in time for July 4th and I got so many compliments on them! These are now one of my favorite pair of high waisted shorts. I think I'll buy another pair and dye those lavender!
