Popsicle Day
Grey Dress: Alternative Apparel, Chrome Leather Bucket Bag: Thrifted!, Gold Watch: UrbanOutfitters.com
I've been hearing Atlanta people talk about this "King of Pops" popsicle shop constantly for the last year. I always say, " Today is the day I go,"or "No today is the day"..and of course it never happens because I sometimes become easily distracted by something else. So I finally went on a random stop with my friend Chelsea C. and we had the time of our lives just eating the popsicles outside the shop on Ponce De Leon and N Highland. I decided to get the Coconut Tangerine while Chelsea got the Strawberry Lime. My popsicle had actual tangerine chunks inside and hers had strawberry seeds! It's two brothers that makes the popsicles straight out of there kitchen, the flavors change everyday with combos such as Mojito, Chocolate Bar,Strawberry Basil and Lemon Mint.King of Pops is a BIG PHENOMENON IN ATLANTA! I now see why! These popsicles are delicious, full of flavor and just makes great photos! I am devoting my life to " King of Pops" at least once a week by treating my self to a popsicle. AT LEAST.... Please excuse my dress down day part 2 in these photos. I have been losing lots of sleep from school and extra hours at work.

P.S. Yes we did play in the flower garden to shop for "potentials" to be apart of our balcony decor. I didn't leave with anything...

Solange "Miss Amazing" Knowles
OH. MY. GAH! Is there anything that Solange can put on and not be amazing? I mean that necklace! That turban! Those platforms! That jacket are in my dreams! She is amazing... I wonder if she has a stylist? But I'm not going to lie to you guys, I used to hate her just as much as her drag queen sister( who I now love also). She used to be an average girl wearing extensions, ruffled tops jeans and heels. BORING! But someone must have told/ taught Solange something about a year or two ago. It first started when she shaved her head and she just went uphill from there.
She is now DJing all around Brooklyn(which my lovely friend Olivia, remnantsofstyle.blogspot.com/ had a pleasure of seeing her at Brooklyn Bowl last year). Miss Amazing, I mean Solange, shops frequently at Boxing Kitten(boxingkitten.bigcartel.com/. Boxing Kitten is one of my favorites because the designer travel internationally for all these amazing african and geometric prints, dyes and sew the fabric into dope rompers, shirts, and dresses and sells straight out of her apartment!
Solange is also best friends with Jeremy Scott, M.I.A., and Kesh, all of my favorite people in the industry. Yes I do stalk her twitter and look around constantly online to get inspired by her daily outfits. Her music is not really my cup of tea but her new way of doing things and being in the spotlight has truly grown on me and I would like to see more. Who would've thought I would be inspired by Solange Knowles style?

Valentine's day and photoshoot
Valentine's Day is one holiday I'm usually never excited about. Grocery stores are covered in pink and red. Everywhere I go offers Valentine's Day Specials. Sappy movies are shown for the whole week. and I never had a Valentine's day Date before....in my whole life. ok maybe once but that's it. I either had no boyfriend at the time or we broke up a sometime before. Sucks but its the truth. Last year, one of my close friends from high school came to visit me for Valentine's Day/ Her Birthday and we ended up going get Thai food and drinks. We just talked about life and our past relationships. It was really fun just catching up and cracking up about what we did in high school. I didn't I have a date this year, so I'll probably do the same thing as last year, gather a group of girls together, grab some really good food, drink a little too much and just enjoy V-Day as just another day in February. No reason to sulk about it. Wear what you want and just enjoy yourself.
I started working on this post a week ago and I just didn't find too many awesome Vday outfits online and coincidently today, I received the link of the finished product of the photoshoot/stop motion film I did two weeks ago! So I just decided to screw the original vday posts and just let the video be posted for today's post. I think it goes great for Valentine's day and for this blog in general. I had lots of fun doing this shoot and glad I was able to work with some talented people. The styling, makeup and clothes are all me. Thanks to Nicole, Kathryn, Michael, and Callen for asking me to be apart of this. Enjoy!

New Media Project
New Photos of my everyday outfits coming soon! I helped my friend out with a group project for her New Media class. She asked me to model for a photo shoot. I'm usually really shy on photo shoots and decline if someone asks me to model. But she explained the whole concept and I thought it would be really cool to be apart of it, plus I could post it on The Fashion Scavenger when its finished to share with you guys.
The concept is about a girl who can't decide on what to wear so she goes through tons and tons of different outfits. Each shot is of a different outfit with me changing in and out of the clothes. I used my own clothes/accessories and shoes for the shoot which helped me to be a little bit more comfortable in front of camera. I was uber excited that I could style myself. Usually its me styling other models for a photo shoot, so this was fun and different. The photographer took about 300-500 shots and will piece them together to make a stop motion film! I had to stand in the same spot the whole time and nothing could move like the camera, mirror behind me or the progressively scattered clothes around the room.
We did the shoot in one of the other group member's high rise apartment overlooking the Atlanta skyline. It was so beautiful! The shoot took place in her room, which was very Parisian and minimal with huge bed and windows! We used natural lighting, so as my outfits went from day to night, so did the actual lighting. My hair and makeup changes progressively also, starting off with a more natural look and then towards the end I'm made up and ready to go! I saw a preview of one photo from a girls phone and it looked great! Everyone involved were super sweet, talented and I'm honored that they asked me to be apart of it. I should have the stop motion film and individual photos by next week!

Snowed in Soundtrack
I finally made it out of my apartment after being snowed in for the last 4 days. I was able to freely speed on the road today instead of having to drive like 5 miles an hour! I have been out over this past weekend but I was still limited on where I could go. The streets were still icy and some places still were't open. This was my first time being snowed in and honestly had no clue what to do with my self! I was going crazy just being stuck inside with only some food, internet and cable. Even though it partially sucked, the other half was pretty amazing! Boredom brought me to catching up on reading books and some blogs I haven't read in a while, did some cooking, playing with makeup and hair( to the point of me looking like a clown), video chatting all day, and most importantly I found some new music! I'm always on a hunt for music I never heard about! It gets me all giddy! I found out about Radio Dept., Frightened Rabbit, George & Jonathan! I even gave Slum Village a listen and I was in shock by how amazing their sound was. Here are some of the albums I played nonstop this whole week.. Actually I think they were my most played albums in ITunes in 2010.
My Snowed in soundtrack for the week.
1. Corinne Bailey Rae: The Sea
2. Gorillaz: Plastic Beach
3. Kate Nash: Made of Bricks
4. The Radio Dept: Clinging to a Scheme ( this is one of the new bands I discovered and I think they just might be my favorite new band!)
5. Karen O and the Kids: Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack
One of my favorite videos and songs from the Arctic Monkeys. Video is kind of sad but well directed.Lyrics are amazing. Man I cannot stop playing this song! Its soo good! Enjoy!
If you get a chance to check it out, Kate Nash actually did a cover of this song and its equally as amazing!
